Badal Dal candidate Manpreet Ayali caught in tape row; Allegedly threatened Govt. officials

Chandigarh/ Ludhiana (April 01, 2014): According to information Shiromani Akali Dal Badal candidate from Ludhiana Manpreet Singh Ayali has been caught on tape threatening government officials.
According to certain medai reports Manpreet Ayali allegedly threatened a government official saying: “tussi lokan di churi tight kar deyanga, je tussi kisse ne vi Bains da kamm kita…” [(We) shall tight your nuts, if any one of you did any of Bains’ work].
The Election Commmission of India (ECI) has sought a detailed inquiry into the incident.

SAD (Badal) candidate Manpreet Ayali is an MLA from Dakha. On the other hand Simarjit Bains, another sitting MLA, is contesting the Lok Sabha seat as an Independent.
As per information Simarjit Bains has sent the tape to the ECI which referred the matter to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Punjab. The CEO has asked the district electoral officer and the Ludhiana police to conduct an investigation.
As per information Manpreet Ayali is taking a plea that the recording had been tampered with and further that the meeting was not related to the Lok Sabha elections.
