Badal Dal’s SGPC member N.S. Kauni violated Akal Takhat directive; Participated in Dera Sauda function

May 17, 2013 | By

Gidderbaha,Punjab (May 16, 2013): It is learnt that Badal Dal’s Shiromani Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee member Navtej Singh Kauni was again spotted at a Dera Sauda Sirsa function on May 16, 2013. He is a member of SGPC from Doda constituency.

A year earlier he had appeared before Sri Akal Takhat and underwent Tankhah for participating in a DSS function.

DSS has been declared to be a sect undertaking anti-Sikh activities and Akal Takhat has directed Sikhs to socially and politically boy-cott dera and it’s funcations.

This time Navtej Singh Kauni’s participation to DSS function is spotted just ahead of the Zila Parishan and Block Samiti elections. An SGPC member from Doda, Kauni was present at the congregation held at Bhullar village.

According to a report by Hindustan Times (HT): Kauni was lobbying hard to secure a Badal Dal ticket for the Kauni zila parishad zone for dera follower Lal Singh.

As per HT: “Kauni’s presence at the dera congregation is seen as linked to the May 19 elections since he has been luring dera followers ahead of voting”.

“Earlier, he had attended the dera congregation in December 2011, a month ahead of the assembly elections in January 2012. His efforts had proved futile as the SAD lost the election from Gidderbaha” HT report reads further.

As per information Navtej Singh Kauni had to appear before the Akal Takht in April 2012 and was directed to clean utensils at the langar hall of Darbar Sahib, Amritsar for 15 days. He had also given his word that he would follow the Akal Takht orders.
