Behbal Kalan Firing: Sukhbir Badal offers jobs to victims families; Sikh youths detained by the police

Kotkapura/ Faridkot: Punjab Deputy Chief Minister S. Sukhbir Singh Badal today visited Sarawan and Niamiwala villages in Faridkot district to share his “condolence” with families of two Sikhs killed in police firing at Behbal Kalan village on Oct. 14. Deputy CM one job per family to an elegible family member of Bhai Gurjeet Singh Sarawan and Krishan Bhagwan Singh Niamiwala.
Deputy CM was accompanies by Chief Parliamentary Secretary Mantar Singh Brar, MLA Faridkot Deep Malhotra, Parkash Singh Bhatti, Chairman Youth Development Board Parambans Singh Bunty Romana, DC Malwinder Singh Jaggi, SSP Sukhminder Singh Maan, DIG Amar Singh Chahal, Chairman District Planning Board Harjit Singh Bholuwala, Chairman PRTC Avtar Singh Brar, Chairman Market Committee Faridkot Gurtej Singh Gill, former member Rajya Sabha Gurcharan Kaur Panjgarain, Member SGPC Gurbinder Kaur and local panchayat members.
Sukhbir Badal offers government jobs to each family member of Behbal Kalan firing victims
It is notable that the SGPC had yesterday given Rs. 10 lakh “relief” cheques each to both the families. The cheques were given by leaders of the ruling party along with SGPC representatives.
Black flags spotted: Sikh youth detained by the police:
Earlier today when a news channel air a news about Sukhbir’s expected visit to both the village, people hosted black flags on their rooftops to show their protest against the ruling party.
Many Sikh activists gathered at Sarawan and Niamiwala village to show black flags to Sukhbir Badal. The demonstrators accused the Punjab government of protecting the police personnel involved in police firing that had resulted in death of Bhai Gurjeet Singh and Bhai Krishan Bhagwan Singh.
The police reportedly detained various youth activists to clear the way for Sukhbir Badal’s visit.
Sukhbir Badal’s visit is considered to be part of ruling party’s appeasement and damage control strategy. The anger against the ruling party had went to peak after Behbal Kalan police firing and people had started opposing ruling party leaders during their public appearances.
The anger against the Badal Dal leaders still prevails but the ruling party is trying to snub the opposition by arresting, detaining or otherwise preventing the protesters besides holding public meetings as an attempt to boost confidence of the party leaders and workers.
