Amritsar/Ludhiana, Punjab (March 19, 2012): Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana, who has accepted the death sentence awarded by Indian Courts and has decided not to appeal against it, has wished his eyes to be donated to Bhai Lakhwinder Singh, Hazoori Raagi of Darbar Sahib. Bhai Lakhwinder Singh performs Kirtan at Sri Darbar Sahib Amirtsar, commonly known as the Golden Temple of Amritsar. Bhai Rajoana has also wished that after his death his body parts be donated to the needy persons.

Bhai Balwant Singh has expressed his wish in a hand-wirtten will that was handed over by Bibi Kamaljeet Kaur (Sister of Balwant Singh), Baba Baljeet Singh Daduwal (Sikh religious preacher) and the Sikh Sangat to Giani Gurbachan Singh, Jathedar of Sri Akal Takhat on 18 March, 2012 at Amritsar.

Sikhs in large numbers participated in procession that started yesterday morning from Gurudwara Sahib of village Rajoana and reached Sri Amritsar, where Rajoana’s will was handed over to Jathedar.

Giani Gurbachan Singh told media reports that he would meet Balwant Singh Rajoana on March 19 at Centeral Jail, Patiala where he is kept in solitary confinement.

Balwant Singh, a resident of Village Rajoana Kalan, near Raikot of Ludhiana Distirct of Punjab, assassinated Punjab’s then Chief Minister Beant Singh on 31 August, 1995. Beant Singh’s regime was responsible for mass level violations of human rights, enforced disappearances, fake or staged encounters of civilian Sikh population of Punjab, torture and other forms of crimes against humanity.

After his arrest he confessed his involvement and explained that they assassinated Beant Singh to halt the circle of oppression on civilian Sikh population. He refused to contest the case in any Indian court or take services of any lawyer, as did not expressed any faith in Indian state or Indian judicial system. He accused Indian system for applying dual standards of law and pointed towards deliberate failure of Indian system to nail the culprits of mass violations such as the Sikh Genocide 1984, genocidal violence against Gujrati Muslims in 2002 and carnage of Christians in Orisa in 2008.

Bhai Rajoana has urged Sikh masses to host “Kesri” flag on their rooftops on the day of hanging. A Chandigarh court has fixed 31 March as day of hanging but Punjab jail authorities have refused to execute the court order on technical ground.
