Faridkot/ Bathinda: In order to channelise the Sikh upsurge against sacrilege of Guru Granth Shaib at Bargari village near Kotkapura, Sikh pracharaks Bhai Ranjit Singh Dhadrian, Bhai Panthpreet Singh, Giani Kewal Singh and others yesterday announced a strategy for protests to press the government to act against the culprits. While addressing a press conference at Bathinda Sikh pracharks criticized the government for police firing against peacefully protesting Sikhs on October 14 and said that the incident of firing at Kotkapura and Behbal Kalan village has reminded the atrocities of Jallianwala Bagh.
They demanded arrest and punishment of persons responsible for sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib and dismissal of police personnel responsible for opening gun-fire on peacefully protesting Sikhs. They said that culprits police personnel should be booked under section 302 of IPC for murder.
Sikh pracharaks said that it was necessary to channelise the Sikh anger in order to avoid any untoward incident which could provide a chance to the state to commit atrocities on the Sikh sangat and suppress the struggle. They said that in order to make this morcha a success, it is necessary to keep the struggle united and well-directed.
While addressing the press conference, Sikh pracharaks said that Morcha (Protest Demonstration and sit-in) at village Bargari would continue but at other places Sikh sangat should organize one district level protest demonstration and sit-in from 10 am to 1 pm.
Sikh sangat should recite Japuji Sahib and perform Ardas during these sit-in demonstrations. The Sikh pracharaks said that no political leader would be allowed to address the gatherings during these sit-in demonstrations. They said that all these demonstrations would be peaceful and anyone found to be creating any sort of disturbance would be kept out of the struggle.
They also urged village Panchayats, Gurdwara managements and Grathis and Sewadars of Sikh Gurduaras to remain alert so as to prevent any incident of beadbi of Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
They said that SGPC and Punjab government should ensure that no incident of Beadbi of Guru Granth Sahib takes place and if any such incident occurs, Punjab government and SGPC would be considered responsible for it.
Sikh pracharaks urged the Sikh sangat to follow this strategy till October 25 and said that future stratigy would be announed on Oct. 25 at Bhog of Shaheed Krishan Avtar Singh and Gurjeet Singh.
