Big challenge lies ahead, but determined to fight – Annual meet of Sikh Youth of Punjab concludes

Amritsar, Punjab (January 06, 2014): Expressing their deep concern over the large-scale corruption in politics and rising drug abuse in Punjab, the Sikh Youth of Punjab (SYP) believes that it has left demoralizing effects on the lives of youth.
The organization favoured reservation to economical weaker section of the society irrespective of caste. The resolution adopted during the meet observes that as Jat Sikhs enjoy higher status in the social hierarchy, hence the economic criteria should be made the basis for reservation to them and not caste.

Earlier, the members of the working committee nominated Noblejeet Singh to head the body for the period of one year and made certain appointments to streamline the working of the body. The delegates from various districts of the state attended the meet and dwell on the need of channelizng the youth’s energy in right direction for right purposes.
Stressing that the communities future lay with young Sikhs, the newly elected head Noblejeet said their thrust would be to groom new faces and bring forth talented youth through this platform.
Touching the sensitive nerve, an engineer by profession Sudeep Singh said theirs outfit would educate the youngsters of the current pitfalls of nepotism and corruption and added that systematic awareness would be created so that they do not fall victim to it.
On the occasion, the speakers mostly youth castigated the politicians for what they said “victimizing them for their vested interests.”
“People who resort to loot are entering politics just to amass wealth. They are exploiting youngsters, thus we have to free the society from politics of corruption and loot,” said outgoing president Ranbir Singh.
Gurvir Singh, a college student said, “Dynastic political families in Punjab and other states are seen as an obstacle to prosperity and development of youngsters.”
“Though majority of youth are not desirous to enter politics, but they have to come forward and clean the society from exploiters” Manjit Singh added.
Parabjot Singh said by taking light from the teachings of the Sikh Gurus and incorporating basic Sikh tenets, they would have an uncompromising stand on substantive issues that concern the Sikh world.
Dal Khalsa spokesperson Kanwarpal Singh, who was guest speaker assured the youth of full backing and logistic support in their pursuit to achieve as much success as possible in their role. “Our mission is to assist youth in becoming better leaders of the future so that they could help the community and the society in an effective manner”, he said.
