Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan faces US court summons in lawsuit related to Sikh genocide

Washington, DC: A Los Angeles based US federal court has issued summons to Bollywood Actor Amitabh Bachchan in a human rights lawsuit related to Sikh genocide 1984. The lawsuit moved by a US based Human rights and advocacy group called Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) states that Amitabh Bachchan had instituted mobs to kill Sikhs during November 1984 Sikh genocidal massacres in India.
Amitabh Bachchan’s Hollywood manager, David A Unger, was served with a copy of the Federal Court summons and complaint by the SFJ on February 23. David A Unger is a prominent talent agent and co-owner of ‘Three Six Zero Group’.
US court issues summons against Amitabh Bachchan
Sikh for Justice has alleged in it’s complaint that Amitabh Bachchan he had instigated violence against the Sikhs by raising “blood for blood” slogans in 1984.
The movie star has denied such allegations.
As per Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, Amitabh Bachchan has 21 days after the notice of the summons to respond to the charges of human rights violations.

“If defendant failed to respond by March 17, we will move the court for entry of default judgement imposing compensatory and punitive damages against Bachchan for instigating violence which took lives of thousands of innocent Sikhs during November, 1984,” said Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, legal advisor
to SFJ.
So far, the Sikh rights body has unsuccessfully filed human rights violations lawsuit against several Indian leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his predecessor, Manmohan Singh.
