Cabinet Expansion After 18th Dec, No Provision For Deputy CM, Says Amarinder Singh

December 7, 2017 | By

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Thursday reportedly said he would go in for cabinet expansion after the declaration of the Gujarat poll results, on December 18, but ruled out a parallel appointment of a deputy chief minister, for which the Congress has no convention.

He was addressing a press conference at the launch of the Congress Vision Document for the state’s urban development when he conveyed his intentions for the expansion of present Punjab Government cabinet in the middle of the month.

Flanked by PPCC president Sunil Jakhar and Local Bodies Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu, Captain Amarinder rejected the suggestion that his government had failed to implement many of its poll promises, which could affect the Congress party’s performance in the MC elections.

It is worth mentioning here that during  his initial days of his second tenure as CM, Amarinder Singh had stated that he won’t be making unnecessary appointments and will practice austerity measures to reduce the financial burden of ministers and bureaucrats on the state’s exchequer.
