CBI pulled up by Delhi Court for failing to issue notice to the complainant before filing the closure report against Sajjan Kumar

Ludhiana (January 20, 2010): It seems that India’s major investigating agency, the Central Bureau of India, commonly known as CBI, is attempting to set its’ own trial norm to protect major politicians from being tried in ’84 Sikh massacre cases.
Recently, in Delhi, on 18 January, 2010 CBI filed Closure Report citing insufficient evidence against Sajjan Kumar in a case under Mongolpuri police station for the killing of Dr. Iqbal Singh during the November 1984 massacre of Sikhs.
However, the CBI failed to issue notice to the complainant Harvinder Kaur wife of Dr. Iqbal Singh before filing the closure report as required by law. The court has now issued notice to Harvinder Kaur for February 23, 2010.
CBI has filed two chargesheets against Sajjan Kumar and 11 others coming for hearing on February 1, 2010.
Due to continued efforts of Sikhs for Justice and All India Sikh Student Federation President Karnail Singh Peermohammad, more witnesses are coming forward to testify against the guilty. Witnesses would be produced against Jagdish Tytler, Kamal Nath, Amitabh Bachan, Bhajan Lal, Arjun Singh, Arun Nehru, Vasant Sathe and 71 police officers involved in the November 1984 massacre of Sikhs.
