New Delhi, India (July 19, 2014): Continues efforts of Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal to pursue BJP led Government of India (GoI) to interfere into HSGPC issue showed some “results” yesterday. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) termed the legislation passed by Haryana assembly as “illegal” and “unconstitutional”.
The GoI ministry also shot off letters to Haryana Government and state governor to “undo” the HSGPC move. The MHA also took advise of Attorney general of India on this matter.
In it’s letter the MHA claimed that the state legislation was not eligible to pass such a law and only Indian parliament was authorise to enact such laws. But on the other hand Haryana state government maintains that it is on strong legal footings in this matter and now there is no going back on this issue.
No going back on HSGPC issue: Haryana Chief Secretary
But with Haryana Chief secretary’s clear and prompt statement that the HSGPC legislation has already been notified as “Act” and it’s not possible to “undo” it. He said that if anyone has some objections with regard to this legislation he/she is free to move to the court.
