Chandigarh/India (November 07, 2012): It is learnt that the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Chandigarh has fixed November 27, 2012 as the court date to hear arguments for summoning former Premier of British Columbia and a Canadian NRI politician Ujjal Dosanjh in a “defamation” case.
It is notable that in 2010 Ujjal Dosanjh had made some objectionable remarks against third generation of Sikhs in Canada during a press conference at Chandigarh Press Club.
After the publication of the concern remarks S. Avtar Singh, himself a young Canadian Sikh had filed a complaint before CJM, Chandigarh against Ujjal Dosanjh under defamation law.
Entertaining the complaint the Court had asked Chandigarh police file a “police report” in this matter.
It is learnt that Chandigrah police has submitted it’s report in the court. The police filed it’s report in the court on October 25, 2012.
The police has told the Court that various newspapers had carried the concerned statement of Ujjal Dosanjh. A journalist has also recorded his witness before the court in this matter.
The court has fixed November 27, 2012 as the court date for hearing argument for summoning Ujjal Dosanjh.
Advocate Navkiran Singh, who is representing the complainant in the court, has expressed hope that the court may summon Ujjal Dosanjh in this matter on next hearing.
“Ujjal Dosanjh Ex M.P of British Columbia Canada, may ultimately be summoned after hearing of 27th November. Our struggle for Justice” Adovcate Navkiran Singh wrote on social networking site Twitter.
