Calgary, Canada: Alberta State of Canada is densely populated with Punjabi community and the election scenario in this province has turned hot. Progressive party is ruling in Canada for last 44 years but the conditions now seem to have changed.
According to a prominent Punjabi vernacular: [c]andidates of Wild Rose Party, National Democratic Party (NDP) and the Liberal Party are expected to give tough competition to the candidates of Progressive Party. Approximately two dozen Indian aboriginals (mostly Punjabis) are contesting these elections.
[W]ell established politician Manmeet Singh Bhullar of Progressive Party (PC) is contesting election from Green Way assembly seat of Calgary, where Davinder Toor of Wild Rose Party is his opponent.
Maikal assembly seat of Calgary has become centre of attraction for all. Advocate Jagdeep Kaur Sahota of Progressive Party, Avinash Khangoora of Liberal Party and Hardial Singh Happy Maan of Wild Rose party have locked horns at this seat..
In Maning assembly seat of Edmonton Gurcharan Singh Garcha and in Edmonton Allersely seat Harman Kandola are contesting election from Progressive Party. Pakistani Punjabi Suhail Kadri is contesting election in Edmonton Mill woods.
Harbakhsh Singh Sekhon, Harpreet Singh Gill and Amit Batra are contesting candidates of Liberal Party in assembly seats of Calgary Hawkwood, Edmonton Milk creek and Edmonton Caldar.
Punjabi voters are feeling entangled in assembly seats of Calgary Greenway and Calgary Maikal where Punjabi candidates are contesting elections against each other.
The surveys of last assembly election in 2012 depicted Wild Rose Party as dominating party, but the Progressive Party won 62 seats out 87 in 2012. Similar, trend has been noticed in surveys but it couldn’t be surely said that which party will dominate in this election.
