American Sikh Council expresses condolences for the victims of the bombing at Istanbul Airport

New York, USA: A press release by the American Sikh Council (ASC) states that the ASC was extremely upset by the unspeakable act of bombing and mass murder at the Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport in Turkey early Wednesday, June 29, 2016.
The death from the deadly attack that rocked Istanbul’s international airport is currently 41, and the number of injured are 239, according to governor of Istanbul, Vasip Sahin. According to the Prime Minister Binali Yildirim, there were three armed gunmen who arrived in a taxi and blew themselves up after opening fire at the entrance of the airport.
“The American Sikh Council sends its heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of those who have been taken away by this unspeakable tragedy. We pray for a speedy and full recovery of the injured. Our prayers are with all the victims, their families, and local community. May Almighty God lighten your burden, and grace you with hope and healing under these very difficult circumstances. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of profound tragedy and grief”, reads the statement.

The American Sikh Council has requested Sikhs in Turkey and neighboring countries to reach out to the victims and the authorities to assist in any way they possibly can.
“Such barbaric acts must be condemned in the strictest manner and the American Sikh Council (ASC) stands in solidarity with the civilized world. Religious radicalization must be taken very seriously and condemned publicly by all the appropriate national and international faith organization”, the statement reads further.
