Amritsar, Punjab (March 30, 2014): Dal Khalsa has accused both Congress and the BJP for ‘doing’ trade on Sikh pain and using it as a political bargaining tool.
Party head and spokesperson H. S. Dhami and Kanwar Pal Singh said as elections are drawing nearer, both the parties were playing bad politics on Blue Star and Nov 1984 carnage, they remarked.
They warned both the parties not to play politics on Sikh pain and desist from touching the sensitive nerve of the community. Holding both the parties equally responsible for sacrilege, they said, “the Hindutva forces instigated Congress led Indian government to attack Darbar Sahib. When the latter sinned by ordering attack on holiest shrine, the BJP distributed sweets on the streets of Amritsar to rub salts on the wounds of Sikhs”.
The recent disclosure about complicity of British government on one hand and suspected and dubious role of Parkash Singh Badal and Surjit Singh Barnala in the army assault on other hand has given a big jolt to Sikh trust. On one hand, Sikhs are at pain that the perpetrators have not been brought to book even after 30 years of carnage. On the other, Congress and BJP-SAD combine were working on the agenda to cash the emotions.
The killers of innocent Sikhs cannot evade punishment and will have to face justice. Sikhs don’t care what Congress or anybody else thinks. We will not let our protest rest till the killers of 1984 episodes are brought to justice, said they.
Taking a dig at the statement of Congress candidate from Amritsar seat Captain Amrinder Singh for referring the period between 1981 to 1995 as dark era, they said in fact that was golden period when Sikhs keeping their rich traditions alive fought against state aggression with full strength and without fear. “Sikhs, who waged armed struggle, were defenders of the faith. Their sacrifices would be written with golden words in Sikh history”.
They termed Badals as ‘shameproof’, who are leaving no stone unturned to ensure the victory of BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendar Modi, the man who is allegedly responsible for gross human rights violations of Muslims and barbaric victimization of Sikh farmers of Gujarat.
