Congress party suspends Jagmeet Brar, Birender Singh

New Delhi, India (August 14, 2014): The Congress party today suspended two of it’s senior state leaders – Jagmeet Singh Brar from Punjab and Birender Singh from Haryana.

The decision to suspend the two leaders was conveyed by party General Secretary Janardhan Dwivedi.

Dwivedi said that the two have been suspended due to indiscipline and anti-party activities. He said that indiscipline and anti-party activities won’t be tolerated by the party at any cost.

Jagmeet Singh Brar is a former MP and former member of Congress Working Committee while Birender Singh is a Rajya Sabha MP from Haryana.

It may be recalled that Jagmeet Brar had invited wrath of the party top brass after he suggested that AICC president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi should ‘take rest’ for two years and handover the reins of the party to some other leader.

Though he was issued show cause notice by PPCC chief Partap Singh Bajwa under the directions of Punjab affairs incharge and party general secretary Shakeel Ahmed, he went ahead again and said that the party should have provision that nobody should remain its president for more than 10 years even as Brar knew that Sonia Gandhi herself has been the president of the party for the last 15 years.

Birender Singh has been on the path of revolt for quite some time and has been of late hobnobbing with the BJP. He has been projecting himself as a candidate for the post of CM in Haryana.
