Hoshiarpur, Punjab (August 18, 20013): In a recent statement the Dal Khalsa strongly condemned the violence unleashed on Sikhs in Tilak Vihar colony in West Delhi area. Party’s general secretary Dr Manjinder Singh and Secretary Sarbjit Singh Ghuman blamed the Delhi administration and the police for siding with the attackers.
The Dal Khalsa leaders said due to vote-bank politics, the mainstream political parties (read BJP and the Congress) had been patronizing such elements every then and now.
They reminded that in the past too, minor clashes did happen in this area but the police and local political leadership choose to keep their eyes shut.
He said perpetrators of November 1984 Sikh massacre had gone scot-free, which had embolden such unruly elements in the Indian capital to mock, tease and harm Sikhs with impunity. They said it was ironic that the local leadership of Congress and the BJP- the parties patronizing the rioters were influencing the police to register against the aggrieved Sikhs.
Dal Khalsa leaders cautioned the Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit not to buckle under the pulls and pressure. They asked the CM to take stringent measure against the attackers and order their immediate arrest.
