Hoshiarpur, Punjab (January 27, 2014): Dal Khalsa took exception over the closure of the Pathribal fake encounter case terming it travesty of justice. The organization asked the international community to influence the Indian political leadership to deliver justice to victims families notwithstanding its army’s adamant stand on it.
Party head H S Dhami said the impunity enjoyed by the security forces has taken the toll of the justice. Accusing the Indian government for adopting double standards on human rights abuses, he said all talks of respect for rights and rule of law rings hollow.
H S Dhami condemned the Indian political leadership for allowing the army to have a field day in Kashmir and elsewhere. He slammed security establishment for opposing the withdrawal of AFSPA from Kashmir, North eastern states tooth and nail.
Blaming the country’s third agency for engineering the massacre at Chattisingpura, Dhami contested army’s claim that those killed were mercenaries who were responsible for gunning down 35 members of the Sikh community in an attack on March 21 while the then US President Bill Clinton was on a visit to India. The Sikhs were awaiting when the real culprits of killers of 35 Sikhs would be brought to book, said he.
He said the CBI probe has categorically blamed the Army officials for staging the fake encounter to show their “competency”.
Notably, while protesting against the Constitutional injustices done to Sikhs on the eve of Indian Republic day, the Dal Khalsa has urged the government to end impunity culture and grant right to self determination to struggling peoples.
