Dangerous Times Ahead As Politics Of Genocide & Revenge Again Became Instrument Of India’s State Policy : Dal Khalsa

Bathinda: Blaming the Indian political establishment, justice system and the mainstream media for failing the Sikhs vis-a-vis 1984 massacre, the Dal Khalsa will observe 33 years of Sikh pogrom by organizing ‘Sikh Genocide Remembrance March’ at Bathinda on Nov 1.

The organization congratulated people of Catalonia for declaring their independence through self-determination and said the move was a ray of hope for all nationalities and peoples, who are struggling in a quest for their own state and lesson for oppressor regimes who are keeping them under their subjugation with states might.
Addressing the press conference party president Harpal Singh Cheema and general secretary Paramjit Singh said the march would highlight the violence unleashed on Sikhs, denial of justice to aggrieved community and failure of United Nations in holding the Indian state accountable for the massacre of Sikhs.
Calling it a big blot on the image of so-called largest democracy of world, they said it was state sponsored pogrom that had left deep scars on the psyche of Sikhs. They said lumpen elements in Congress and BJP played tandav with full impunity. They said the failure of Indian justice system to deliver justice to victims of Delhi massacre in 84 paved the way for Mumbai killings in 92-93, Gujarat pogrom in 2002 and Orissa in 2008.
They said the march will begin from Gurdwara Haji Rattan and culminate at Gurdwara inside Qila Mubarak.
Since Nov 1 is Punjab day, we will talk about all vexed issues that made Punjab to boil, and which have been systematically ignored or left unresolved.They reiterated that 1984 events have taught the Sikhs to follow the path of freedom and seek right to self-determination for Punjab.
Party’s spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh criticized the state machinery and section of media for refusing to acknowledge the killings of officially 2733 and unofficially 8000 as carnage or a genocidal pogrom and deliberately reducing it as a “riot” between the Sikhs and non-Sikhs.
He said Ironically India and its politicians wants to mute the world. That is not possible. The tide has started to flow in the other direction. He referred the passing of a motion in the Canada’s Ontario state assembly calling the mass killings of Sikhs in 1984 as ‘genocide’. Singh said the minorities were living in dangerous times and they fear more threats as the politics of genocide and revenge has become an instrument of (India’s) state policy.
To a question, they said the raids by local police to arrest their senior member Hardeep Singh is uncalled for. We hope better sense will prevail and the administration will desist from any step that could precipitate the situation. They said the police has wrongly registered against Hardeep Singh and others.
