November 26, 2013 | By

Moga, Punjab (November 26, 2013): It is learnt that the situation at village Dhudike (district Moga) took serious turn after Dera Sauda Sirsa followers attempted to hold a gathering despite opposition from the local Sikhs. It is notable that the Sikh sangat is opposing the dera sauda activities since 2007 in accordance with directive issued by Akal Takht Sahib in wake of anti-Sikh activities of the Dera Sauda Sirsa (DSS) chief.

Local sources revealed to the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) that since last few days the dera followers were planning to hold a gathering, but the local Sikhs were opposed to it. On November 25, 2013 the dera followers attempted to hold their gathering with the support of police and administration, and it led to an altercation between dera followers and the Sikhs. The police reportedly resorted to tear-gas shells and firing in air to take control over the situation.

Meanwhile, while talking to “Fateh Multimedia” village Dhudike sarpanch Jagdeep Singh said that local Sikh in consultation with the village panchayat held a meeting at local Gurdwara Sahib as dera followers were fixing their tent to hold their “charcha”. It was decided in the meeting that an attempt shall be made to convince the dera followers to cancel the gathering in wake of opposition from the villagers, he added.

According to Sarpanch Jagdeep Singh Dera followers had agreed to hold meeting with the village panchayat and the Sikh representatives but some miscreant put the tent on fire, which led to the altercation.

Some nearby standing vehicles were reportedly put on fire by dera followers.

He criticized administration for paying biased role that had led to the untoward situation. He informed that Dhudike remains tense but the situation was under control as no untoward incident was reported today.
