Dhuri: The Dhuri police today sought more time from a local court to file status report related to a 11 years old case against Sikh Political Prisoner Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara. On Feb. 14, he had filed an application with Dhuri court to know the status of a case pending there.
According to Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara’s counsels Advo. Jaspal Singh Manjhpur and Advo G S Sarao the Tihar Jail authorities recently informed Bhai Jagtar Singh about various cases ‘pending’ against him in papers. Following which an application was moved in a Dhuri court to know the status of the case. The court had told Dhuri police to file status report before the court.
“The police told the court today that Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara was nominated in FIR No: 133/2005 but he was never arrested in this case”, Advo. Jaspal Singh Manjhpur told SSN over phone.
The court of Amandeep Kamboj heard the matter today where the local police made a submission that the some other persons named in this case were convicted by the trial court and their appeal was pending before the Punjab and Haryana High Court therefore the case file was with the High Court. The police sought more time to find out the details pertaining to the case so as to file a reply in the court that whether Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara was needed in this case or not.
The court fixed 27 March, 2017 as next date of hearing in this case.
