Fatehgarh Sahib: Following the letter received from Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) president Simranjit Singh Mann in which he has reportedly said that the employees of various trusts functioning under the SGPC were drawing double salary from various institutions, the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) has annouced that it will set up an inquiry committee to look into the allegation.
SGPC chief Kirpal Singh Badungar said he had received the letter from Simranjit Singh Mann yesterday and had decided to thoroughly investigate the matter through a sub-committee and seek its report for further action, media sources said.
He further stated that the state government should take necessary steps to take action against anti-social elements that were out to disturb peaceful atmosphere in the state by desecrating religious scriptures, reads The Tribune
Furthermore, he categorically stated that the state government had a large intelligence system and there was a need to take the issue more sensitively.
SGPC could only create awareness among the general masses, he adds.
