New Delhi, India (April 01, 2014): At a joint press conference of the Delhi BJP and the SAD, Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament (MP) Naresh Gujral on March 31 said that the Sikhs were massacred in 1984 and about 30 years later, not a single accused had been punished.
He said if the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) came to power, it would ensure justice for the Sikhs.
“When the NDA Government comes to power, the accused will be punished,” he said.
Delhi SAD unit chief Manjit Singh GK said Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) members were campaigning for BJP nominees.
“If the BJP comes to power, it will set up a special investigating team (SIT) under the supervision of the Supreme Court to investigate the 1984 killings,” he said.
He said the BJP would also set up a university for the Sikhs in Delhi which would be funded by the Central Government.
It may be recalled that SAD (Badal) was opposing Special Investigating Team (SIT) in January-February this year when Arvind Kejriwal led Aam Aadmi Party’s Delhi government had recommended the setting up of SIT for ‘investigating’ November 1984 Sikh pogrom related cases.
