From Nov 1984 massacre to killing of Nijjar: Dal Khalsa to hold March with FreePunjab slogan

October 26, 2023 | By

Amritsar- To mark the 39 years of genocidal week of Nov 1984, when nearly 8 thousand innocent Sikh men and women were butchered by Hindutva frenzied elements in Delhi, the Dal Khalsa has decided to hold an event in Amritsar on Nov 1 under the nomenclature of ‘Justice and Freedom’ March.

Addressing the press conference, party spokesman Paramjit Singh Mand said the highlight of the March will be Freedom of Punjab as 1st Nov also marks the completion of 57 years of today’s Punjab.

Young Sikh activists on the call of Dal Khalsa will March on the streets of Amritsar to expose Indian design and its continuation of assaults on Sikhs till date in one way or another. The latest target of India’s extrajudicial operation was known Canadian Sikh face Hardeep Singh Nijjar, said Mand.

He said the march would highlight the violence unleashed on Sikhs, mockery of justice and failure of the United Nations in holding India accountable for the massacre of Sikhs.

He said India has exhausted the Sikhs. We have no hope left for justice. Sikhs are committed to continue with their fight for independence through right to self-determination.

Divulging the details, general secretary Paramjit Singh Tanda and organisational secretary Ranvir Singh said the March will start at 4 in the evening from Gurdwara Ranjit Avenue and culminate at Lawrence Road. The Marchers will cover 3 kms area carrying Banners and placards in their hands to spread the message.

The next generation of Sikhs must understand that there won’t be any justice for the Sikhs unless they attain complete freedom from Indian yoke, said Tanda.

Party leaders said, Nov 1st is also a Punjab day. It’s 57 years now that Punjab has been deprived of its legitimate rights on its capital, river waters, BBMB and Punjab speaking areas. These days politicians of all hues are talking about SYL. For us, the issue of SYL is almost buried.

For us, the concern is the more than 55 percent of Punjab’s river waters that are flowing to non-riparian states without any royalty. The challenge before us is to how stop the loot of our natural resources.

The return of Mian Nawaz Sharif, ending his four years of exile, is a welcomed development. As a veteran and seasoned politician, we hope Nawaz will bring Pakistan back on tracks, overcoming all challenges his country is facing including economic crisis. Moreover, Sharif family has special bonds with Punjab on our side of Radcliffe line, said party leaders.

Dal Khalsa strongly condemned Modi dispensation for not extending cooperation to Canada in the investigation of killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar despite latter’s request.

After US and UK backed Canada on the issue, India stands isolated with five eyes refusing to give India an olive branch. Addressing media persons, Mand said, by asking Canada for reduction in its embassy staff, Indian government has tried to create wedge between Punjabis and Canadians as New Delhi knew that it’s decision to suspend Visa services for Canadian citizens and reduction of its embassy staff will severely effect the future prospects of Punjabi students.

Dal Khalsa is aghast to witness the loss of thousands of innocent lives ever since the war broke out between Israeli forces and Palestinians. The horrific scenes of dead bodies of children’s on both sides, deaths due to bombardment at hospital by Israeli forces, the relentless bombing taking lives of unarmed civilians and civilians dying due to scarcity of water and food is nothing but a war crime and there’s no justification to it.

It’s a matter of grave concern that Israel has blatantly refused to listen to UN chief Antonio Guterres, who has expressed deep alarm over the “relentless bombardment” by Israeli forces and appealed to all to “pull back from the brink” before the violence escalates even further.

Dal Khalsa appeals for an end to war and human sufferings in the wake of siege of Gaza. Our organisation is of the view that impunity to Israeli forces by major western powers to kill any or all Palestinians living in Gaza Strip is fraught with danger for world peace and stability.

We express our solidarity with the cause of Palestinians for statehood and sovereignty as we are sailing in the same boat. We too are struggling for our statehood and sovereignty.
