Amritsar, Punjab (May 15, 2013): It is learnt that on May 14, 2013 the Akal Takht jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh justified his directive to end the indefinite hunger strike by Bibi Nirpreet Kaur, a key witness in the November 1984 Delhi Cant area massacre case at Jantar Mantar on May 8, 2013. Delhi Cant area massacre was part of Sikh genocide 1984.
As per media reprots: reacting to a letter written by Nirpreet, criticising him for forcing her to end the fast, Giani Gurbachan Singh said he had given the directive on his own after Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) had apprised him of her poor health condition.Ginai Gurbachan Singh reportedly said: “I just wanted to save her as life is important to achieve justice and it is a fight of the entire Panth and not of her alone”.
Giani Gurbachan Singh reportedly said that if the Sikhs did not get justice then five Singh Sahibs (Jathedars of five Sikh takhats) would give a protest programme in which the entire community would take part.
