Chandigarh: Expressing dissatisfaction over Punjab Governor’s address in Punjab Vidhan Sabha on Tuesday, Aam Aadmi Party said that the government has failed to describe their plans and policies to address the matter related to public concerns. In a press statement, Senior AAP leader and leader of opposition in Vidhan Sabha, Adv. H.S. Phoolka said that the plan to tackle the important issues which were mentioned in the election manifesto of Congress party was missing from today’s address. He said that even the proceedings regarding the address were not tabled in the house.
H S Phoolka said that before elections the Congress promised to wave off farmer’s loan and passing a law in this regard but no plan has been given in this regard in today’s address. He said that many farmers had stopped paying their loans after the assurance from Congress but now as the banks and other private firms have started harassing the farmers by imposing penal interest on loans, the government has turned a blind eye to the matter. The tractors and other farm related equipments are impounded by the banks. He said that the government must assure the farmers by issuing a statement that no confiscation will took place in the future. He said that government also failed to give any future plan to prevent the farmer’s suicide in state.
AAP leader alleged that the ‘Gunda Tax’ illegally imposed by Badal Dal leaders is still in place and now the Congress leaders have started collecting it. He demanded that a statement in this regard was necessary from the government side. He also showed displeasure over no mention of duration of electricity to be provided to the farmers for the purpose of irrigation. The government did not even utter a single word regarding providing uninterrupted drinking water supply to the people of state.
“We were expecting that a time bound inquiry will be marked in incidents of beadbi of Sri Guru Granth Sahib happened in Punjab, but the government failed to do so. Even Justice Zora Singh commission in its report mentioned that many high profile political leaders were involved in these cases but the government failed to address this issue of high significance.” said Phoolka. He said that the issue of private schools harassing the students and their parents was not raised in the address as many Congress and Badal Dal leader have their stakes in the education business being run in state.
AAP leader Sukhpal Singh Khaira said that the friendly ties between Congress and Badal Dal leaders were exposed as the government made no announcement regarding marking inquiry into illegal transport, Cable, liquor and sand business of Badal Dal leaders. “Badals looted the state for 10 years and the common people of Punjab suffered because of atrocities of Badal Dal leaders but to the surprise of all, Amrinder don’t want to take any action against them.” Khaira said.
