Chandigarh: With the conclusion of the counting of votes for the Punjab state assembly election on 11th March 2017 has started a blame game between the SAD (Badal) and its alliance partner Bhartiya Janata Party, as Union minister Harsimrat  Badal  taking the first shot here on Tuesday.

Talking to party workers in Mansa, the Badal Dal leader listed the BJP’s poor performance in urban areas as a reason for the defeat of the alliance.

“Anti-incumbency leads to resentment among people… The decline in the urban vote share is due to the poor performance of our alliance partner (BJP), which they could have improved,”  Harsimrat Badal reportedly said. The Bathinda MP further said that despite an intensive negative campaign carried out by the two rival parties (Congress and Aam Aadmi Party) on social media, the SAD (Badal) BJP’s vote share of about 31% was still better than that of the AAP’s (24%).

Furthermore, while reacting to Harsimrat Badal’s statement former chief of the Punjab unit of the BJP Kamal Sharma whilst interacting with the media said that the SAD (Badal) cannot escape the blame for anti-incumbency. Calling her comments “undesirable”, Kamal Sharma advised the Union minister not to indulge in blame game.
