Chandigarh, Haryana (May 15, 2013): As per media reports the Haryana government lifted ban on the screening of blockbuster Punjabi film “Sadda Haq” in the state on May 15, 2013.
It is learnt that the ban has been removed on the condition due observation of the Supreme Court of India (SCI) and provisions of other applicable laws. The state has directed that only the duly corrected version certified by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) would be exhibited in full conformity to law.
A notification to this effect had been issued by the home department, an official release said.
It is notable that Sadda Haq film was scheduled to be released on April 05, 2013 but in a last hour decision the Punjab Government banned the movie on April 04, 2013. Punjab government had banned the movie under pressure from high-ups in Punjab police and bureaucracy. But surprisingly, Haryana government also followed Punjab government for banning the movie.
On April 27, 2013 the Supreme Court of India invalidated the bans imposed by the state government and cleared the screening of the movie.
