Anandpur Sahib, Punjab: The Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar (Mann) held a political conference at Amandpur Sahib on March 05. The conference that was attended by top party leadership, activists and the Sikh sangat was held near main road leading to Takht Kesgarh Sahib.
While addressing the gathering S. Mann sought an amendment to the Constitution to ensure protection of the interests of the Sikh community.
He also demanded release of arrested Sikh militant Bhai Jagtar Singh Tara. S. Mann alleged that Jagtar Singh Tara was being implicated in false cases.
Former MP and SAD (A) president criticised the move to operate international flights from the Chandigarh airport. He alleged the step, okayed by Punjab as well as Centre, had resulted in the grounding of international flights from the Amritsar airport.
“This is injustice to the people living in Majha ,” he said.
Raising a “different” demand S. Simran Jeet Singh Mann reportedly said that the control of dams built on rivers in Punjab be handed over to the United Nations Organisation.
