New Delhi, India (August 23, 2014): For past few days armed forces India and Paksitan have been engaged in cross-firing at “Line of Control” (LoC) relating to internationally disputed territory of Kashmir. Both the neighbours have a world know hostility towards each other and have previously engaged in three large scale wars.
The recent incidents of exchange of fires across the line of control takes special significance in wake of recent developments. Few weeks back Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused Pakistan for proxy war against India and said that the neighbouring country was not in a position to engage in full-on war with India, that’s why it (Pakistan) was adopting proxy war tactics.
Soon after this comment former senior officers of India and Pakistan, during a TV debate, threatened each with use of nuclear weapons if any war breaks out between the two countries.
India’s Defence Minister Arun Jaitley today (on August 23) said that the Indian Army and Border Security Force (BSF) are responding effectively to the repeated ceasefire violations by Pakistan.
According to Indian media reports, Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire as many as 16 times in the last 16 days. The heavy firing on Saturday morning killed two civilians in the RS Pura sector and injured an army personnel and three other people.
“Our Army and BSF are effectively responding to each violation. The country has full faith in the armed forces”, said Arun Jaitly while speaking to reporters at the ceremony commissioning INS Kamorta into the Indian Navy.
