Amritsar, Punjab (Deceber 25, 2012): It is learnt that the Indian immigration authorities have detained Sikh preacher and Sant Samaj leader Baba Baljeet Singh Daduwal at Guru Ram Dass International Airport, Amritsar.
A Hindustan Times (HT) report heads: “Sikh radical leader Daduwal detained at Amritsar airport”, while Business Standard (BS) with reference to Press Trust of India (PTI) has reported that Daduwal has been “arrested”.
Baba Baljeet Singh Daduwal is said to have been detained by Indian immigration authorities at Amritsar airport as soon as he landed here from London, England.
“The immigration authorities at the local airport detained Sant Samaj leader Baljit Singh Daduwal on Tuesday after he arrived here from London” reports HT; adding that “confirming this, the Amritsar police said – there was a Look Out Circular (LOC) against Daduwal as Haryana Police were looking for him in a case. As soon as Daduwal landed at the airport, the immigration authorities detained him and informed the city police.”
As per reports the Haryana Police had been informed and they would reach Amritsar on December 26, 2012 to take the custody of Baba Baljeet Singh Daduwal.
“According to our information, Daduwal was booked by Haryana Police in 2007 on charges of attempt to murder and some other charges. In that case, the LOC was issued”, HT has quoted an unnamed police officer as saying.
As per reports when the flight landed at the airport at 1.30pm, the immigration authorities immediately asked for the passport of Daduwal. Thereafter, he was informed about the look-out circular and told that his detention was made for a pending case of 2007 in Haryana.
