April 20, 2014 | By

A special lecture of Sikh intellectual and Historian S. Ajmer Singh was arranged on topic: “Indian Elections 2014 and the Sikh Panth” on April 10, 2014 at Gurdwara Sahib, Sikh Patti, Village Jagatpur near Mukandpur, Phillar Banga Road, District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Punjab.

In his lecture, S. Ajmer Singh explained that how the Lok Sabha Elections 2014 were different from previous elections. He made it clear that the mask of so-called secularism has been removed from Brahminical Totalitarian Oligarchy that was masked as “democracy”, and the RSS/ BJP were moving towards translating their ideological agenda of Hindu Rashtra into political power in this election, and the Hindu majority of India could be seen as backing this process.

He further explained that how the practise of politics with in a secular frameworks takes a big cost from minority groups in multinational countries ruled by a vast majority. He clarified that those minority groups who decide to participate electoral process in all situations ultimately sacrifice their own (identity) consciousness to fulfil their lust for power.

In this view, S. Ajmer Singh analysed the current situation of various Sikh groups, including those participating in Indian electoral process (such as Badal Dal, who have abandoned the panthic consciousness), as well as the panthic gorups who claim to hold the panthic ideology as the basis of their politics.

He explained that how Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) is moving towards implementing Hindutva agenda under the garb of Indian nationalism, and it’s prospective impact on Minorities inhabiting Indian peninsula.

He also explained that the conduct of Sikh candidates, (especially those fielded by Aam Aadmi Party), shows the level of degenerated political consciousness among the contemporary Sikhs.
