Jalandhar, Punjab (May 07, 2014): According to media reports, Giani Gurbachan Singh (Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib) and Giani Balwant Singh Nandgarh (Jathedar of Takht Damdama Sahib) have offered ‘clarifications’ regarding recent controversy involving Baba Ramdev.

There had been strong condemnation of the yoga trainer and Hindu preacher for showing disrespect to the Sikh Gurus by placing a portrait of Guru Gobind Singh Ji on floor, while Ramdev himself sitting on the stage during one of his “yoga and Rashtra Nirman” camps.

Giani Gurbachan Singh and Giani Balwant Singh Nanadgarh, in their separate statements published by various media sections, said that the recent controversy involving Ramdev was uncalled for, as the image that tends to show that Ramdev had disrespected Sikh Gurus was about three years old. They further said that Ramdev’s “mistake” was “unintentional” and that he had corrected his mistake soon after it was brought to his notice.

According to a news reported by the Daily Ajit, a Punjabi vernacular published from Jalandhar, Giani Gurbachan Singh has cautioned the Sikh masses against believing the ‘motivated rumours’. Jathedar also said that Baba Ramdev had apologised at Takht Damdama Sahib for his mistake.

It is notable that the recent controversy involving Ramdev was triggered by an image that was initially published by a Rozana Spokesman, a Punjabi vernacular published from Mohali. The image had later gone viral over Facebook and WhatsApp.

As per information the Janadhar police has also registered an F.I.R against Ramdev on the complaint of a local Sikh.

Various organizations, including a Punjabi NRI body, had been demanding strict action against Ramdev for his blasphemous behaviour.
