Kashmiri Women Are Part of Our Society, Sikhs Will Not Permit Repeat of 1984 With Them: Giani Harpreet Singh

Amritsar: The Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) appointed Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib Gaini Harpeet Singh issued a written statement today taking strong notice of comments of Hindutva sections targeting Kashmiri women.

Without naming any section or party, Giani Harpreet Singh said that after abrogation of Article 370 certain elements, some elected politicians and some persons in religious attire have made offensive comments against Kashmiri women targeting their self-respect and honour. These acts are serious offence against all women-kind and cannot be ignored.

He said that Sikh women were targeted by people of same mentality during the Sikh genocide of 1984 and there were mass rapes of Sikh women during November 1984 massacres. He said that Kashmiri women are part of our society and Sikhs will not allow anyone to repeat 1984 with them.
