Birmingham, United Kingdom (September 09, 2014): The music of Punjabi feature film “Dilli 1984” was recently released in Birmingham. Dilli 1984, a movie that was denied clearance certificate by India’s Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) was given music by Gurdeep Mehndi and Harry Sandhu. Daler Mehndi, Gurdeep Mehndi, Jasveer Jassi, Shipra Goyal and Mannu and Sukhminder Singh Hansra have given their voice to the movie songs.
According to information extended to the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) by Ashok Gupta – writer, director and producer of Dilli 1984 movie, his film has already received clearance by the Brithish authorities for screening in England.
All India Sikh Students Federation president Karnail Singh Peer Mohammad, who has been promoting the movie in UK declared full support to the movie saying that it shows the real events that happened in November 1984 in Delhi.
In a press release sent the Sikh Siyasat News, Ashok Gupta said that though the movie has been banned in India, we will take it to the world and release it worldwide and at the same time keep fighting with the Indian censors to clear it, so that it can be released in India as well.
There has been a sudden rise in production of movies on 1984 related topics after the success of Sadda Haq (2013). On the one had there is outrage over bans being imposed by Indian authorities on these movies, but on the other had there is a growing concern that many of recent movies on 1984 related topics were week on artistic front.
