Speakers from Misl Satluj articulated their views on key topics, including the role of Sikhs in politics—whether as minorities or equal stakeholders—and distinguishing genuine political engagement from vote-bank strategies. They also examined the historical and current influence of Sikhs in Indian politics, as well as the complexities between Punjabi identity politics and Sikh identity politics.

The discussion further addressed socio-economic concerns such as reserved job quotas and infrastructure development priorities, debating whether these should prioritize civilian needs or military and business interests. Additionally, insights into the economic burden and contributions of Punjab’s industrial sector were explored, alongside reflections on the governance challenges faced by political entities like the Shiromani Akali Dal. Misl Satluj’s event aimed to stimulate thoughtful dialogue on these critical issues, seeking to inform and shape the future direction of Sikh political and socio-economic discourse in Punjab.
