Mohali: The National Investing Agency (NIA) produced Ramandeep Singh Chuharwal and Hardeep Singh alias ‘Shera’ before an NIA special court in Mohali today. NIA demanded their police remand for 12 days but the court of Additional Session Judge 1, Ms. Anshul Berry granted police for 4 days. Duo will be reproduced before the court on December 1.
Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur appeared before the NIA court as defence council of Ramandeep Singh Chuharwal and Hardeep Singh Shera. The parents of Ramandeep Singh, who were present outside the court, were allowed to meet their son for few minutes inside the court with the permissions of the court.
It is notable that the National Investigation Agency, New Delhi has arrested Ramandeep Singh and Hardeep Singh Shera under NIA case RC-18/2017/NIA/DLI, on 16.11.2017. The case pertaining to killing of RSS activist Ravinder Gosain was initially registered by Punjab police under FIR No. 442/2017 dated 17.10.2017 under sections 10, 12, and 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, sections 302 & 34 of the Indian Penal Code and section 25 of the Arms Act, 1925, at PS Jodhewal, Ludhiana, Punjab. The NIA has reregistered this case as RC-18/2017/NIA/DLI, on 16.11.2017.
A press release by NIA dated 17/11/2017 states the background of the case as: “Background of the case is that on 17.10.2017 morning, two unidentified persons killed Shri Ravinder Gosain, Chief of Raghunathnagar Shakha of Rastriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Ludhiana, while he was sitting outside his house at Gagandeep colony, Ludhiana“.
