Pakistan lodges protest with India over ceasefire violations, civilian killing

Islamabad: A day after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi telephoned his Pakistani counterpart to break self-imposed deadlock in ties, reports in Pakistani Media says Indian army troops resorted to unprovoked firing along Line of Control in Azad Kashmir, killing a 60-year-old villager on Saturday (Feb. 14).

Pakistan has reportedly lodged a protest with India through diplomatic channels over the killing of 60-year-old Muhammad Aslam, caused by BSF firing in the Rawlakot Sector.

The man was an inhabitant of the area and was engaged in cutting grass 150 meters inside the LoC on Pakistan side.

Whereas reports in Pakistani media allege that the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) also started unprovoked mortar shelling on Sialkot border villages in Charwah Sector of the Working Boundary, reports in India media are blaiming Pakistani troopers for violating ceasefire.
