Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Committee to move to UN Against India for Preventing Sikh Yatra

Amritsar/ Chandigarh: It is learnt that the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC) has decided to lodge a complaint against the Indian Government with the United Nations (UN) for not allowing Sikh jathas to visit Pakistan to mark religious days.
The decision was reportedly taken after a meeting of the PSGPC and the Auqaf Board yesterday.

The PSGPC was led by president Sardar Tara Singh and the board was represented by chairman Saddiq Ul Farooq. They accused the Indian Government of stopping the Sikh Jathas from visiting historic gurdwaras in Pakistan.
A 282-member jatha was recently denied permission to travel to Pakistan to observe the death anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh on June 28. The Indian government had denied requisite clearance to SGPC’s jatha as a result the members of the jatha were not able to get visas. Even when a Jatha organized by International Bhai Mardana Memorial Kirtan Society duly obtained visas from Pakistan embassy to visit Lahore to mark death anniversary of Sikh ruler Maharaja Ranjeet Singh, the Indian state prevented them from visiting the neighboring country. Sikhs believe that Indian state is sacrificing their rights and wishes due to its’ own hostility with the state of Pakistan.
