Nawanshahr (October 12, 2009) Activist of Shiromani Akali Dal (Panch Pardhnai) today submitted a memorandum to Deputy commissioner of Nawanshahr district seeking release of Bhai Daljeet Singh Bittu and other leaders of Panch Pardhani arrested by the police allegedly at the instance of Punjab Government in wake of upcoming SGPC elections. Activists of Panch Pardhani Dal gathered at Gurudwara Singh Sabha and marched peacefully towards DC office.
The memorandum handed over to DC is addressed to Chief Minister of Punjab which says that Punjab Government should act honestly to curb activities of Dera Sauda Sirsa (DSS). ‘Vicious activities of this cult are real threat to the peace of Punjab’ said Bhai Kulvir Singh Barapind while addressing the gathering of his party-men. He further said that Punjab Government is playing ‘politics of terror’ to suppress political organizations representing Sikhs. ‘Arrest of Bhai Daljit Singh is a part of plan aimed at targeting the expanding base of Sikh organizations in Punjab’ he added.
Bhai Harpal Singh Cheema said that Panch Pardhani is committed to pursue the peaceful struggle to achieve desired political goals of the Sikh Nation and Punjab Government can not detract us by arresting our leaders and workers under false charges. ‘Punjab Government is misusing laws like Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for its’ ulterior political motives.’ he said.
Similar memorandums are scheduled to be tendered to DCs in other districts of Punjab also.
