Piara Bhaniara and seven others held guilty by Ambala court; 5 acquitted; Sentence on May 13

Ambala, Haryana (May 10, 2013): It is learnt that self-styled godman Piara Singh Bhaniara has been held guilty by a trial court of Ambala (Haryana). Besides Bhaniara, seven others have also been convicted in two cases registered against them in Ropar district (Punjab).

As per information Chief Judicial Magistrate A. K. Jain held Piara Singh Bhaniara and other seven accused including Harjit Singh, Jaswinder Singh, Surmukh Singh, Surjit Singh, Bhupinder Singh, Ashok Kumar and Rajinder Singh, guilty in two cases registered against them in Morinda, Ropar district (Punjab) in 2001.

The cases were related to a book “Bhav Sagar Granth” that was written by Piara Singh Bhaniara. He had directed his followers to bow before this book and had made objectionable remarks towards Sikhs scripture “Guru Granth Sahib”.

Sikhs had registered a case against him at Morinda in Ropar District in Punjab. Citing threat to his personal security Piara Singh Bhaniara was able to get the case shifted to Ambala Court.

Today, the Ambala court convicted him and seven others, while acquitting five others in this case.

The sentence shall be pronounced on May 13, 2013 by the court.

As per reports Piara Singh Bhaniara was arrested by the police after the court held him guilty in this case.
