Prof. Geelani gets bail in Sedition case as court sees no fruitful purpose of keeping him in Tihar

New Delhi: Delhi University’s associate professor S A R Geelani was granted bail by the court of Delhi sessions judge in a “sedition” case registered against him.

The case was registered by the Delhi police for holding a meeting to mark three years of the hanging of Kashmiri national Afzal Guru who was sentenced to death by an Indian court in Parliament attack case.
The court observed that there was no fruitful purpose to keep Prof. Geelani behind the bars.
