Amritsar (January 16, 2010): Referring to Malegaon, Samjhauta Express, Mecca Masjid, Ajmer Sharif bomb blasts, the Dal Khalsa in a memo addressed to India’s Home Minister, has urged Shri P Chidambaram to proscribe the RSS and Abhinav Bharat and detain its top-most leadership for inciting anti-minority violence in the country.
Party president Harchranjit Singh Dhami has bemoaned that “top brass of the RSS” are going unpunished and demanded a quick investigation into their role in a transparent manner and urged the media to play the role of watchdog.
Hitting hard at the RSS, the letter states that “its fascist leanings with praise for Hitler and Mussolini are not just historic facts but the very basis on which the organization continues to spread ill-will, hatred and mayhem in all states of India, including Punjab”.
The letter wondered whether is it possible that the foot-soldiers of the Hindutva groups arrested so far has executed these high level blasts without support and sanction from their top bosses. Arguing further the alleged involvement of its top brass, the leader of the Sikh group opined that given the strictly hierarchical and disciplined nature of the RSS and its affiliated groups, it’s not possible that they were acting without the knowledge of their superiors.
While your government has taken the initial steps against the foot-soldiers of the Hindutva brigade, we watch with abated breath whether it will reach its logical conclusion, given the total and comprehensive permeation of RSS into all spheres of governance, said he.
Whether the Central investigative agencies like CBI and NIA would actually follow the rule book and not buckle under political pressure or hide behind sentiments of the majority community was another fear, reads the memo.
Slamming Indian government for adopting soft attitude towards Hindutva terrorism, he said in spite of the fact that involvement of the hardcore activists and senior functionary’s of the RSS and Abhinav Bharat in terror acts has come into open, the New Delhi has failed to declare these organizations as ‘outlawed’. Accusing the government for its double standards, the memo pointed out that presently 34 organizations with minority links have been declared “terrorist and unlawful” by the government of India, most of them on slightest pretext or flimsy grounds.
He said the RSS and Abhinav Bharat should be included in the list of ‘terrorist and outlawed organizations’ and its leadership taken into custody under NSA. “Let them have a taste of the dark walls of prison like Swami Assemanand which may probably bestir their near-dead conscience”. The lists of 32 innocent Muslims appeared in the section of the media, who were tortured and arrested wrongfully in these blasts cases cries for radical overhaul of the Indian justice system and end of the prejudice against Muslims in this country.
“If the present UPA government is committed to the ideals of secularism and equality, then it should apologize to the Muslims, Sikhs and others for their racial profiling over the years. All Muslim youth tortured and wrongfully blamed and confined for the blasts carried out by the Hindutva forces should be released with exemplary compensation paid”, he concluded.

To
The Home Minister
Government of India
New Delhi
Dear Sir:
I write to you to share with our concern in the face of startling evidence coming up day after day, ever since the Indian main stream media surprisingly decided to go bold and courageous to uncover the role of RSS and other Hindutva-based organizations in the last two weeks.
As your government and your party knows too well, the most frightening but not totally surprising aspect is the exposure of the role of the senior functionary’s of the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) in the bloody blasts at Malegaon, Samjhauta Express train, Mecca Masjid and Ajmer Sharif.
This role of the RSS is not new, its right-wing anti-minority stance, outlook, focus is well-known. Its fascist leanings with praise for Hitler and Mussolini are not just historic facts but the very basis on which the organization continues to spread ill-will, hatred and mayhem in all states of India, including Punjab.
While your government has taken the initial steps against the alleged accused, we watch with abated breath whether it will reach its logical conclusion, given the total and comprehensive permeation of RSS into all spheres of governance. Whether the Central investigative agencies like CBI and NIA will actually follow the rule book and not buckle under political pressure or hide behind sentiments of the majority community is another fear.
The strict discipline and hierarchical functioning of the RSS is legendary and in view of that anyone expecting the layman to believe that the blasts were the handiwork of only some “misguided or rogue elements within Sangh Parivar” would be deceiving oneself.
What we find astonishing and disturbing is that the Indian government, even though fully aware of all the details is not disclosing the role of the higher-ups of the RSS in instilling terror in the land only to defame and destroy the good name of a minority community? What is stopping the government from functioning in an unbiased and transparent manner?
Moreover, the mysterious murder of Sunil Joshi, the key man whose name figured in all terror blasts is another example that suggests that his murder has been carried out to save the skin of those who were patronizing likes of him. The confession of Swami Aseemanand is a welcome development, so long as it does not result in the investigative agencies stopping the buck there itself and not looking further up for those involved.
With so much of hardcore evidence, what is stopping the government of India to take executive action to proscribe organizations like RSS and Abhinav Bharat for their acts against humanity? Today, 34 organizations with minority links have been declared “terrorist and unlawful” by the government of India, most of them on slightest pretext or flimsy grounds. Is your government allowing minority-bashing of such organizations to continue as Congress too is keen to harp on the Hindutva syndrome as it is likely to fetch electoral results?
The Congress party and your government cannot be absolved of the blame for turning a blind eye to the role of such forces like the RSS and all its offshoots, from the political to the rabidly communal, who have had a major role to play in denigrating the Sikhs in the eighties of the last century, who are perpetually against the Dalits and other underprivileged sections and who is constantly engaged in decimating the Muslim community with the aim of converting the country into a monolithic state.
If the present UPA government is committed to the ideals of secularism and equality, then it should apologize to the Muslims, Sikhs and others for their racial profiling over the years. All Muslim youth tortured and wrongfully blamed and confined for the blasts carried out by the Hindutva forces should be released with exemplary compensation paid. Abhinav Bharat and RSS should be declared ‘terrorist organizations’ and its leadership taken into custody under NSA. Let them have a taste of the dark walls of prison like Swami Assemanand which may probably bestir their near-dead conscience.
With profound regards
—
