Muktsar, Punjab: People of Punjab are facing long power cuts these days and reports say that state is suffering from a severe power crisis in wake of coal shortage. Today’s newspapers inform that five power generation units of Ropar thermal plant stopped power generation yesterday. But even in this situation Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s native village Badal continues to get uninterrupted supply.

A report by The Tribune (TT) says: [r]esidents of Badal village are a privileged lot. Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal holds the power portfolio. Said Durga Singh, a resident of Badal village: “The village has not witnessed any
power cut in the past two months.”

“But residents of nearby Mann village have not been that lucky. When contacted, officials of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) and Punjab State Transmission Corporation Limited (PSTCL) feigned ignorance about the matter” TT report reads further.
