Protest against Hanging of Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana: Sikh bodies call for Punjab shut down on March 28, 2012

Amritsar, Punjab (March 26, 2012): Indian media is up in arms to create confusion among masses by publishing misleading reports about Punjab shut down call. Various prominent Indian newspapers are trying to mislead masses by wrongfully reporting that Joint Committee formed by various Panthic organizations has rejected the program announced Akal Takhat Sahib and March 28 Punjab bandh call is not supported by Akal Takhat Sahib.

Panthic leaders in communication with Sikh Siyasat made it clear that Sikh bodies have accepted the edict of Sri Akal Takhat Sahib and the protest program announced by Joint committee is in accordance with spirit of edict of Sri Akal Takhat Sahib.

Sri Akal Takhat Sahib has directed Sikhs to close their business/shops etc on March 28, 2012, mediate the name “Vaheguru” and peacefully protest against proposed hanging of Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana. Joint Committee has given it the name of shut down and there is nothing to propagate that Sikh bodies have deviated from program announced by Sri Akal Takhat Sahib.

Akal Takhat Sahib Jathedar has directed Sikhs to oppose the decision to hang Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana, and under the light of this general guideline joint committee has chalked out follow up programs of three mass level marches from three Takhat Sahibs situated in Punjab to Patiala on March 29 and Dharnas at Patiala on 30 and 31 March, 2012.

Joint Committee leaders have issued an appeal to the masses of Punjab to support this movement to prevent hanging of Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana.
