Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has reportedly hinted at initiating efforts to end dissidence within the party’s state unity and most of the rebels, including AAP MP from Patiala, have expressed willingness for a comeback. However, the rebels say that they won’t compromise on ‘matters of principles’ or the ‘party’s ideology’.
AAP’s Punjab unit convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur said in a statement that he make his best efforts, even at personal level, to persuade all party leaders to come on a common platform.
Sucha Singh Chhotepur had categorically said that he was prepared to meet Dr. Dharamvir Gandhi and S. Harinder Singh Khalsa to sort out differences with them.
While responding to Chhotepur’s statement Patiala MP Dr Dharamvir Gandhi said he raised his voice after the party leadership drifted away from its goals and political objectives. Dharamvir Gandhi was suspended form the Aam Aadmi Party along with Fatehgarh Sahib MP Harinder Singh Khalsa after they had held a parallel stage at Batala.
“I have nothing against Arvind Kejriwal. It was the party that turned its back to core issues such as inner party democracy and financial transparency. The leadership should first rectify where it had gone wrong,” The Tribune (TT) quotes Dharamvir Gandhi as saying.
He reportedly added that he was an AAP MP, but would support only honest, dedicated and committed party candidates in the 2017 Assembly elections.
Prof Manjit Singh said that he was ready for talks, but won’t compromise on the issues for which he had joined the organisation. He said that though he was expelled from the party many months back but he was not served with any chargesheet till date.
MP Harinder Singh Khalsa could not be reached for comments.
