RSS Punjab chief launches offensive against Sikhs; Says ‘Sikhs are part of Hindus’

December 17, 2014 | By

Qadian, Punjab: Hindutva forces have unleashed their fascist agenda aiming at assimilating or eliminating distinct identities in India in favor of Hindutva. To fulfill ominous ‘desire’ of Hindutva forces to assimilate the Sikh religion into to Hindutva fold, Hindutva fountainhead Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh has revived it’s ‘anti-Sikh’ body called ‘Rashtriya Sikh Sangat’.

It may be recalled that in 2004 the ‘Rashtriya Sikh Sangat’ was declared ‘anti Sikh’ outfit by five Sikh Jatehdars in an official message (Sandesh) issued from the Akal Takht Sahib.

After 2004 the Rashtriya Sikh Sangat’s presence turned negligible and in 2009 it’s head Rulda Singh was shot dead in Patiala.

After the Hindutva forces headed by RSS-and-Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) secured political power in India, the RSS took no time to revive Rashtriya Sikh Sangat.

RSS Punjab Brij Bhushan Bedi chief recently spoke to an English vernacular claiming that RSS activities had nothing to do with politics. He said that the growth of the Sangh, its activities is a natural progression.

RSS state chief admitted that RSS is making continuous ‘effort’ in Punjab.

Labeling Hindu religion as a ‘culture’ RSS chief said that the Sangh (RSS) uses ‘dharma’ (religion) it in a wider context.

“We say Sikhs are part of a larger Hindu culture. We are separate members of the same family… this does not mean that Sikh religious identity should be subsumed in Hinduism. Sikh religion is separate” he added.

He tried to underplay the issue of show of fire weapons by RSS activists in various cities in Punjab saying: “Shastra puja (worship of weapons) is organised as part of Vijay Dashmi (victory of Hindu mythological Lord Rama over Ravana) celebrations in RSS shakhas across the country. The marches you are referring to were organised by over-enthusiastic volunteers, nothing more should be read into it”.

Brij Bhushan Bedi compared marches by armed RSS activists with tradition of Mohalla by Sikh Nihangs saying that ‘when Nihangs take out processions in Punjab with their weapons, no one objects’.

He said that RSS’s association with deras was part of their ‘sampark’ program.
