Sedition charges for holding Sarkar-e-Khalsa flag quashed

As per news reports published in all most all prominant dalies published in Punjab it is learent that the Punjab and Haryana High Court today quashed the sedition and conspiracy charges against 19 leaders and activists of Dal Khalsa for having hoisted the flag of Sarkar-e-Khalsa at Amritsar on January 26,2005. The district and session court at Amritsr had framed the charges as a follow up to the registration of a case against these Dal Khalsa leaders under section 153-B,124-A and 120-B but the proceedings were stayed by the high court about two months back.

The case was registered at police station, Islamabad, Amritsar against Dal Khalsa President Harcharanjit Singh Dhami, Satnam Singh Paonta Sahib, Kanwar Pal Singh, Sarbjit Singh Ghuman, Balraj Singh Balaipur, Dr Manjinder Singh, Kuldip Singh, Arpal Singh, Baldev Singh, Sukhdev Singh, Arjan Singh, Gurdeep Singh, Giani Amrik Singh, Sukhdev Singh, Sarwan Singh and Avtar Singh. The FIR had named ten Dal Khalsa leaders and another 25 unidentified persons and the case included among others S. Jagjit Singh Chauhan who passed away on April 4, 2007.
