Self-Determination Issue: Dal Khalsa Backs Jagmeet Singh, Slams Amarinder Singh

October 24, 2017 | By

Hoshiarpur:  Dal Khalsa today blamed Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh for doing the bidding of New Delhi, wittingly or otherwise.

Kanwar Pal Singh, party’s secretary for political affairs said Amrinder’s uncalled and irrational reaction to Canadian Sikh leader Jagmeet Singh’s standpoint on self determination reflects undemocratic trait in him. To my mind Jagmeet Singh has reasonably given his views on the subject and Amrinder has unreasonably reacted to it.

Kanwarpal Singh Bittu.

The right to self-determination is an alienable right of all nationalities and peoples who have distinct identity, history, traditions and language and who have a quest for their own state.  “The section of Punjab has been struggling to achieve this right post 1984 and for some period of time being a part of Shiromani Akali Dal you were also part of it”, Dal Khalsa leader reminded Amarinder Singh.

Kanwar Pal Singh asked Amrinder Singh “why he signed Amritsar declaration in mid 90’s if he is that nationalistic as he is pretending to be now”.  “All his acts, statements and reactions in the last six months starting from defending immoral act of Major in Kashmir who used human being as shield, praising human rights violator KPS Gill, maligning Canadian Sikh minister Harjit Singh Sajjan and recently blaming dejected Badal Dal alone for Gurdaspur poll debacle shows that Congress CM has tactical understanding with Modi dispensation.”

Describing Congress, Badal Dal and AAP  as feathers of the same flock , he said Daljit Singh Cheema, Bhagwant Mann and Amrinder Singh none had political acumen to realize the real essence of Jagmeet Singh’s statement. Canadian Sikh leader not only talked about right to self determination as ‘basic right’ for people of Punjab and Catalonia but for people of Quebec also- his own country’s province. Indian politicians showing their narrow mindedness had twisted his statement mischievously to prove that they are more loyal than the king, he said.

Those politicians who were giving examples of Sikhs occupying the post of President, Prime Minister and chief of Indian army are in a big illusion as they all were handpicked in their individual capacity and not as community’s representatives.
