Amritsar, Punjab (January 24, 2012): NBC comedy show host Jay Leno’s derogatory remarks about Darbar Sahib, Amritsar have enraged Sikhs in Punjab. He said that innumerable Sikhs have lost their lives to uphold its honour and dignity and this is a sensitive issue.
“We have taken notice of the issue and will lodge a protest after gathering the complete facts” he added.
Dal Khalsa spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh said the comments tantamount to blasphemy. “Dal Khalsa strongly protests against Leno’s remark,” he added. Describing the remarks as a cruel joke against the Sikh faith, Dal Khalsa said Leno should “apologise to the world and Sikhs in particular.”
