Chandigarh (August 05, 2014): The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Avtar Singh Makkar on knocked at the door of Haryana governor Kaptan Singh Solanki again yesterday.
In his second meeting with the hard-core RSS man who was recently appointed governor of Haryana by Nareandra Modi led BJP governing in Center Avtar Singh Makkar apprised Solanki of the functioning of the SGPC and demanded an immediate solution to the issue of a separate Gurdwara body in Haryana.
“I told him (Solanki) that the Akal Takht is the highest authority of the Sikhs and the Takht Jatehdar’s edict is binding on every Sikhs,” Avtar Singh Makkar said.
It is notable that Avatar Singh Makkar and other leaders of the Shiromani Akali Dal met previously met Kaptan Singh Solanki on Sunday August 03 demanding a review of the legislation passed by the Haryana assembly last month against provisions of Sikh Gurdwaras Act, 1925.
